About me

Hello, I’m Ricardo!

I’m a Software Developer, originally from Portugal, at the moment working at Flumotion in the amazing town of Barcelona. I also run getGears, which is working behind the curtains to roll out some interesting concepts in the near future, stay tuned.

I work in the web field, but it is been quite some time since I wrote a single HTML tag. I am a back-end architect and my programming language of choice at it is Python, although Erlang has been spicing up my appetite.

I try to stay within the Open Source world. I use VIM to do all my coding, Ubuntu at my work desk and Debian on my servers. I also have a MacBook for reasons still not clear to me.

One of my major interests besides development is traveling and I do it on every little opportunity I can get. It is also my desire to live and work in the highest possible number of countries as I can in the upcoming years.

I am very enthusiastic about what I do and you will probably find me talking over lunch about some algorithm I’m playing with.
